To be eligible for admission to degree study, applicants need to meet the minimum requirements for eligibility:
- Applicants holding a South African National Senior Certificate (NSC) need to pass a minimum of 4 subjects at a rating of 4 (Adequate Achievement, 50-59%) or better in any four 20-credit NSC subjects.
- Applicants holding a South African Senior Certificate need matriculation endorsement.

There are limited seats available for undergraduate programmes in the Faculty of Science and Agriculture and Faculty Management and Commerce.
The University of Fort Hare (UFH) charges a non-refundable application fee of R120 for online applications, payable via bank deposit or EFT, with your student ID or passport number as the reference; this fee is essential for processing your application for undergraduate or postgraduate programs.
