
Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness Cleaner (Sessions) –
Location: Breede Valley Sub-district, Western Cape
The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is offering contract-based Cleaner positions until 28 March 2028. This is a great opportunity for individuals with cleaning experience in a health environment to contribute to maintaining hygiene and safety standards in healthcare facilities.
Position Details:
- Employment Type: Contract (15 sessions)

- Number of Positions: 3
- Hourly Rate: R86.45 per hour + 37% in lieu of service benefits
Minimum Requirements:
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills
- Previous experience as a cleaner in a healthcare setting
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and supplies
- Comfortable working at heights using a stepladder
- Capable of performing physically demanding tasks
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong conflict-handling skills and ability to work under pressure
Key Responsibilities:

Perform general cleaning duties, including:
-
Sweeping, dusting, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing

Refuse removal and daily cleaning of garbage bins

Cleaning of toilets, sluices, and drains
-
Washing windows and walls in the clinic
-

Ensure cleaning equipment is properly cleaned and stored after use

Assist with general housekeeping duties, including:

Controlling cleaning and household supplies

Caring for linen and serving patients
-

Adhere to safety measures when handling waste
-
Participate in in-service training relevant to service delivery
Additional Information:
- Rotation between clinics may be required based on operational needs
- Shortlisted candidates may be required to undergo a practical test
- Candidates will be assessed for competency, security clearance, and qualification verification
