
Midvaal Local Municipality Admin Clerk: Libraries
Salary:
- Annual Salary: R228 828.00 – R255 780.00 (Level 09 of a Grade 04 Local Authority)
- Total Package (including benefits): R376 906.60 per year
Midvaal Local Municipality is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Admin Clerk to join its Libraries department. If you have strong administrative skills and experience in a public library or local government, this opportunity is for you.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 qualification
- A Code 08 driver’s license is an advantage
- Studying towards a Library & Information Science qualification is an added advantage
- Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and administrative skills
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and office management skills
- 2 – 3 years’ experience in a public library or administrative role within a local government
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform counter duties such as issuing and receiving library materials
- Register new members and assist in information services for learners and general users
- Shelved books in alphabetical order and maintained the library’s classification system
- Managed administrative duties including photocopying, processing fines, handling telephone inquiries, and maintaining records
- Oversee stock control for stationery and cleaning materials
- Cover and repair damaged books
- Work on Saturdays as required
- Perform additional ad hoc duties as assigned by management
Additional Information:
- The municipality does not reimburse travel costs for interviews unless the distance is over 400km (for positions at levels 1 to 4)
