Job Purpose:
- The Retail Sales Associate plays a key role in assisting the store management team in daily store operations while ensuring that customers receive top-quality service. As a Sales Associate, you will be responsible for sales transactions, merchandising, stock control, and general store maintenance. You will also have the chance to develop your sales and customer service skills while working in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Customer Service & Sales
- Deliver exceptional customer service by assisting shoppers in finding the right products
- Greet customers warmly and engage with them to understand their needs
- Use selling techniques such as add-on sales and product demonstrations to boost store sales
- Process sales transactions accurately, including cash, credit card, and cheque payments
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude when interacting with customers
2. Merchandising & Store Maintenance
- Assist in organising product displays and maintaining visually appealing merchandise presentations
- Ensure that the store is clean, tidy, and well-stocked at all times
- Help move products from the stockroom to the sales floor as needed
- Follow store guidelines for inventory control and loss prevention
3. Security & Asset Protection
- Maintain awareness of store security and ensure company assets are protected
- Follow company policies to prevent theft and stock shrinkage
- Report any suspicious activities or incidents to store management
4. Store Operations & Team Collaboration
- Work closely with store managers and team members to achieve sales goals
- Assist in day-to-day store operations and administrative tasks
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to improve skills
- Be a brand ambassador and represent Adidas professionally
To succeed in this role, you need:
- Excellent communication & listening skills
- Strong customer service and people skills
- Ability to meet and exceed sales targets
- A high energy level and ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to handle customer queries effectively
- Basic knowledge of point-of-sale (POS) systems
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric Certificate (Grade 12)
- 0 – 1 year of retail experience (entry-level candidates welcome)
- Passion for sports, fashion, and customer service
- Availability to work flexible retail hours, including weekends and public holidays
