NOTICE 84/2025 – EXTERNAL & INTERNAL VACANCY
The Prince Albert Municipality invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the following external and internal vacancies in the Directorate: Corporate and Community Services, to be filled as soon as possible:
Position: Learner Firefighter
Division: Corporate & Community Services
Section: Fire and Disaster Management Services
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Code B or Code C1 Driver’s Licence
- Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT)
- Physically and mentally fit
- Medical Examination (NFPA 1582 standard)
- No criminal record
- Willingness to work shifts and overtime at short notice
- Willingness to work at any fire station or related facility within the municipal jurisdiction
- Firefighting 1 with First Aid
- Effective communication in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape
Added Advantages:
- Firefighting 1 & 2
- HAZMAT Awareness and HAZMAT Operations Certification
Key Responsibilities:
- Driving firefighting and emergency vehicles
- Responding to fire incidents and rescue calls
- Ensuring vehicles and equipment are kept clean, maintained, and safe
- Assisting in compiling reports and maintaining accurate records
- Providing administrative and logistical support (e.g., procurement of materials and equipment)
- Participating in training sessions and physical fitness programmes
Remuneration & Benefits:
- Post Level: T06 (Category 1 Municipality)
- Annual Salary: R155,086.20 – R201,319.92 per annum

Competency Levels:
- This position requires a Level 1 competency as per the Fire and Rescue Competency Framework outlined in Annexure A of the Municipal Staff Regulations (Government Gazette No. 45181 of 20 September 2021). The required competencies include:

The successful candidate will be required to sign an employment contract and a declaration of interest.
